End of the season

We woke up this morning and ate breakfast at 9:45. We all got on the bus at 11:45 am to play our first game against Wahpeton at 1:00 am. We were all very excited to play because these were our huge rivals. We really needed to win this game to play in the championship game. Unfortunately we lost the first set 30-32. Followed by the second and the third. We were very displeased with ourselves. We had to play against Bismarck at 7:30pm now and if we lost we would be out and have to go home. We started the game with very little enthusiasm. However, we won the set 25-20. We still played with little enthusiasm in the second game, but still won it 25-22. Unfortunately we lost the third, fourth and fifth sets. We were all very upset. We did not want it to be over. We went back to the hotel and packed up our stuff and headed home to williston.

Regionals Baby!!

First day of Regionals has started and we are off to a good start. Our first game was against Dakota College of Bottineau. We knew that we could not take them lightly and would have to be prepared for anything. We started off the game strong winning 25-17. We then moved into the second game confident that we would be able to win this set. Our confidence then came down a bit and we barely won the set 25-22. Going into the third set we knew we had to finish them off. We started off the game and they were keeping up with us. Points went back and forth, with each team taking the lead at different times. We finally came up with the win 27-25.
Tomorrow is another day and we know we have to step up our game. The first game is against our long time rivals the Wahpeton Wildcats. We know that to win this game we have to bring our A game.

Conference Champions!

Tonights game was amazing. Not only did we win, but we raised money for breast cancer. It was our "dig pink" night. Both teams, as well as the crowd, dressed in pink. There was a bake sale, an auction for a teton volleyball signed picture, "Go Tetons" bracelets, and a door prize. All proceeds went to breast cancer awareness. Being our sophomore night, all sophomores got announced and met their parents on the court. Although all this stuff was a lot of fun, we had to get down to business when we got on the volleyball court.
The first two sets went really well. We had a mind set that nothing would drop. Hitters did really well at putting the ball away. The third set was a struggle, as wahp was ready to come back and not let us walk away without a fight. We made some errors that shouldn't have been made and we ended up losing 21-25. We knew we didn't want to go to 5 sets and we wanted to end it in 4; And that is exactly what we did! We played hard and fought all the way to the end. We are now CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS! :)

one win away..

...from being conference champs.

Our two biggest games of the season are this week. One of them was last night on the road agains Bismarck State College. Last night, at the start of the game our records were the same. However they had the momentum on their side, coming off of a huge win against NDSCS. We showed strength in being able to finish a tough game going into 5 sets. We lost the first set, 20-25. We came back to win the next two sets, 25-21, 25-21. We struggled in the 4th set losing 14-25. Coach Lindsey always stresses how we need to finish games strong. We came out in the 5th set wanting it more than they did. We were the first team to 8, and kept going strong winning 15-8.

Our next game is tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 23 against NDSCS. If we win, we will be conference champs, if we lose we will be co-conference champs. It is also "Dig Pink" night for Breast Cancer Awareness. Come out to support Lady Tetons and Breast Cancer patients!

Jamestown Scrimmage

Tonight we defeated Jamestown's JV, We started out playing really scared and didn't play together very well. We lost the first two matches 20-25 and 18-25 but we got it all together and came back and won the next three matches: 25-23, 25-13, and 15-3. Our goal was to play well together to prepare for our upcoming games this week. We play BSC tomorrow night and NDSCS on friday night, these two games are very important and will determine if we are the conference champions or not. The first two games tonight were not very good, but after pulling it together in the last three, we feel confident about winning the rest of our games this week.

Iowa: Day 2

Iowa Lakes: We improved from the first day but we still need to work on defense, blocking, serving, covering, and finishing a play. For defense we need to keep off our heels and stay on our toes. Stay low while moving from our base to our defensive spots and be ready for everything. We need to close the block and remember to turn it in. And we also need to cover hitters everytime. Missing less serves is a big part of the game too. And putting all this together is important also. After we get a good pass we have to finish it with a hit of kill. And also if we get a good hit we need to be ready on defense if the ball comes back over the net. We ended up losing this game 3-0.

Iowa Central: This was the best game we played all weekend! We improved in all the areas we talked about against Iowa Lakes. Defense and blocking were a big part of the game. Serving was more aggressive and we covered well too. We had a lot of good rallies and stuck with them throughout the game. We ended up losing 3-1 but we played a good game and had fun while doing it!! We need to remember what we improved on and bring that to our upcoming games next week.

Day 1 in Iowa

We arrived at the school at 8:45am to load onto the bus. We left Williston at about 9am. After 16 hours on the road, including two stops to eat, we arrived in Fort Dodge, Iowa. We did not have to leave the hotel until 12pm the next day, so we were able to sleep in a little bit. We left for lunch at 12pm and ate at an italian fast food restaurant. We arrived at Iowa Central Community College at about 1pm. At about 2pm we started to warm up for our 3 o'clock game. We lost to Southwest College in 4 sets. The scores were, 23-25, 21-25, 25-14, and 19-25. We had one game off, until we played Southeast College. In the game against Southeast college we lost the first set, 20-25, won the second set, 25-20, lost the third set, 21-25,won the fourth, 26-24, and lost the final set 10-15. They were both unfortunate losses, however we hope to come out stronger tomorrow. Tomorrow we play at 11am and 3pm. After our games we get back on the bus and head home.

We started our first match off with Dawson Community College very strong. Our serving was outstanding and we all seemed to be working together. The score of our first match came out to be Tetons 25, Dawson 10. The second game, Dawson seemed to have warmed up a bit and stayed with us. Keeping up our intensity has always been our problem but Tetons still came out with a win of 25-21. The third game we didn't play even close to our potential and ended up losing 19-25. That brought us to our final game. We knew we couldn't go 5 games with Dawson and we all knew we had to end it in the fourth game. Our defense and hitting still weren't up to our potential but we did get through the game and pull of another win for our season! We were a little scrappy tonight but hope to have a good weedend in Iowa!

2nd day of home tournament!!

Starting off the day playing Rocky Mountain College in Montana, we won in just 2 games. We started off playing really well and continued throughout both sets. Our defense, both serve receive and digging, was really on key. Along with defense, both setting and hitting were consistantly strong as well. After our 12 'o clock game, we had our friends and family meet and greet in the alumni room along with dinner.
After dinner, we were ready for our next game against Jamestown's JV. We won, but this time in 3 sets. The first set was strong, but we struggled with serve receive and serving in the second set. We came out ready to play in the third set and took the victory.
Our last game of the day was at 4:30 and against Briercrest in Canada. They were a tough team both defensively and offensively. We didn't play up to our potential and made many little mistakes, causing us to lose in 2.
The overall tournament went really well for us beating 3 out of the 4 teams we played. We are finally finding our team chemistry and playing up to our potential the way we know we can.

we beat sheridan!!!

"I am challenging you guys to play two amazing matches in a row" -Coach Lindsey

This is the first thing Coach said to us before we walked onto the court. And that is exactly what we did. This last week of practice has definately prepared us for this game, and games for the rest of the season. Coach came up with some new rules that really challenged us in practice. With these new rules being very challenging coach is pleased with us, being able to dig up balls that we haven't been able to dig up all season.
Sheridan College is Div. 1 Junior College, and they are a very good team. They are loud, and good at getting into your head. They dig alot of balls and run a good offense. However tonight we did all those things better. Winning the first game 25-16, we were fired up. We started off slow the second game and dug ourselves a hole. We fought at the end but came up short losing 17-25. The third game is always about who has the momentum from the beginning. We always want to be the first team to 8. We were the first to 8, and we kept going strong winning the match 15-11. Coach was very proud of the way we played tonight, and we expect to keep playing this way the rest of the season. It feels great knowing that the Lady Tetons walked of the court giving it everything they had.
We are more than excited to continue our play in our home tournament.

Defense Won the Game!!

Today we travelled our way to the small town of Bottineau to play against Dakota College. This was our first game back from a week break and knowing that Dakota College beat Bismarck, we could not take them lighty.
At the beginning of the game both teams came out fighting hard, striving for every point. With a new line up we were trying, we came up short losing the set 29-31. The second set was different, going back to our usual line-up, we proved that we could make a come-back, gaining all of the intensity on our side, winning this set 25-14. The third set we came out even more pumped up ready to play our game. With their crowd trying their best to distract us, we did not let it phase us, winning the set 25-11. Going into the fourth set we knew we had to keep up the intensity and not let Dakota College come up with the win. With amazing defense we won the set 25-17.
After the game Coach called us in to talk to us, she told us that was the best defense she has ever seen us play, and that is what won us that game!!
We have our home tournament this weekend and hope you can all make it!!
